P R E S S R E L E A S E - For Immediate Release

RELEASE OF NEW CD: ZEMA WITH THE GLADIATORS BAND, "JUBILEE" - CONSCIOUS ROOTS REGGAE

Kingston, Jamaica, May 5, 2009 - Melchizedek Music is pleased to announce the release of the highly anticipated new roots reggae CD from Zema with the legendary Gladiators Band, entitled JUBILEE (MEL2060). Described as one of today's top female modern roots reggae vocalists, this roots daughter brings her soaring and engaging voice along with her years of experience as a professional musician backing internationally known reggae artists to this her sixth album.

JUBILEE was recorded in Kingston, Jamaica at Harry J's Studio where many reggae classics have been created. Now living in Kingston, Zema was able to put more time into the production of this album as well as returning to playing keyboards. Zema has been touring the world with The Gladiators for the last three years and the camaraderie they have developed is evident in the quality of the resultant music. Zema's desire as a producer was to maintain that roots, rock, reggae sound The Gladiators are notorious for. The musicians on this album include Albert Griffiths' two sons with Al Griffiths singing in combination with Zema on the tune "Warning:"
Drums: Anthony Griffiths
Bass: Bagga Walker and Andrew Campbell
Guitar: Clinton Rufus, Gallimore Sutherland and Dalton Browne
Keyboards: Veron "Keysie" Sutherland, "Bowie" McLaughlin and Zema
Percussion: Sticky Thompson and Scully Simms
Horns: David Madden, Tony Greene and Calvin "Bubbles" Cameron

Zema's music has been described as "healing music for the 21st century" by eminent reggae archivist, Roger Steffens. Her intention is to bring nurturing sustenance and spiritual empowerment to a needy world through her inspiring music. JUBILEE is a celebration of Zema's long career as one of the few trail-blazing females in the reggae genre. She again showcases her talents as singer, musician, songwriter, arranger and producer as well as her deep spirituality which are reflected in these 14 cuts of potent conscious roots reggae and dub. JUBILEE is a well-crafted and masterful release covering a wide range of material from upbeat tunes like the title track, "Jubilee," universal themes on "Power In Unity," a unique and effective cover of Bill Withers' classic "Ain't No Sunshine," to the spiritually empowering "Time of Trouble" and "Firefall." Her style of conscious reggae music brings the universal message of love, justice, racial harmony and spiritual upliftment that captivates a wide audience.

JUBILEE is available at fine sources for reggae music including Ernie B's Reggae (www.ebreggae.com, 866/496-5474 toll free wholesale/retail), Amazon.com, eBay.com, buyreggae.com; UK/Europe: Amazon.co.uk, eBay.co.uk, systemrecords.co.uk, buyreggae.de; Japan: www.kitanaka45.com, www.legendmusic.jp, and soon to be available as digital download on iTunes.com.

ZEMA: BRAZIL TOUR, CONCERT AND MEDIA INTERVIEW

Zema will be touring with The Gladiators in Brazil from May 11 through 21 (see dates below) and will be performing songs recorded with The Gladiators from her new "OVERCOME" CD including "Son and Daughter of Jah" which is a combination with Al Griffiths and The Gladiators (http://www.gladiatorsband.com/)

Over the past couple of years, Albert Griffiths, founder/vocalist for The Gladiators, has been in the process of turning The Gladiators over to his two sons, Al Griffiths on lead vocals whose voice is virtually indistinguishable from his father's, and Anthony Griffiths on drums. These two young reggae warriors have proven both live and in tthe studio that they are fully competent and are infusing a new, youthful energy and substance to carry The Gladiators' legacy into the future. This can be heard on their latest album, "Father and Sons," where Albert and Al evenly share the lead vocals and Anthony covers the drums. The "new" Gladiators have already garnered tremendous response touring throughout Europe, Brazil, the South Pacific and Australia and are poised and ready to spread their message to the rest of the world!
